“Thank You Faithful!” Remembering A Great 49er Football Season

A De-Bug staff member, and tailgate faithful, writes about how remembering the great season is always better than dwelling on the loss.

Sunday's overtime loss to the New York Giants was a huge blow to a great season, but the San Francisco 49ers faithful recognize the great season that the 49ers had, also how historic the past few games have been. And so a simple but honest thank you is what the 49ers have to say to their faithful, which in the end is all we really wanted.

The playoff game versus the New Orleans Saints was one of the loudest games I have ever heard. The intense roar of a red sea of Niner faithful fans at their edge of their seat to witness one of what some would call a catch of a lifetime by Vernon Davis. And the truth is besides one bad Raider game in the pre-season; all the games at Candlestick have been a blast and good football games.

The game is a game, it has always been a game and it will always be a game, so in a game sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. There’s always next year. Thank you San Francisco 49ers for a great season filled with great tailgate memories with friends and family, and for thrilling games all season long.
