Film por Vida: Prints from San Jose

Edgar Godinez profiles the photo program that honors the special value of sending and receiving print photos through the mail.

Despite the decline in the postal service the Film por Vida print exchange program, started by jai tanju, keeps it old skool in the sense that you can physically mail film photography prints. Now a days the convenience of taking a digital picture and emailing it is killing the art of photography and that feeling of sending and receiving mail.

My friend is an avid project participant and he says that as a photographer receiving other photographers work has really stoked him. He says there's this feeling in receiving mail that you actually want and enjoy. I believe it's really cool because its national and international, so through those photos you see what those locations are like.

If your a photographer and would like to expose yourself to a new way of viewing photography sign up on the mailing list. Also send jai some work and he'll post it on the site. Check it out.
