"Antonio's memory lives on through my kids" - Family of Antonio Guzman Lopez Responds to DA Decision Not to File Charges on Officers

Antonio Lopez was killed by San Jose State Police Officer Mike Santos last year while walking to work. Over a year, his family has been asking questions without any answers. The body camera video of the confrontation was finally shown to the family last week and the District Attorney made the decision to not charge the officer. Photographer Ron Orlando was there to document the reaction of Antonio's family and community as they continue to seek justice for him.

Tenants Want San Jose to Strengthen Renter Protections

Working Partnerships USA, Affordable Housing Network, PACT, Silicon Valley De Bug, Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee, the South Bay Labor Council and Silicon Valley Rising have been working together in the recent months to get more renter protections for San Jose tenants, this past week they took their concerns to the city to move forward with renter's rights.

San José Renters Begin Movement to Change Laws around Renters Rights in San José

Last week about 60 people came together at the Dr. Roberto Cruz Library in East San José for an initial renters rights conversation. It was the first meeting of its kind in the city in recent history and tenants were enthusiastic to tackle the issues of providing protections for renters and making housing affordable in one of the most expensive places to live.

Apple Dodges Taxes Candlelight Vigil

Apple's CEO Tim Cook had once quoted the late Dr.Martin Luther King saying, "As Dr. Martin Luther King once said, the time is always right to do what’s right. At Apple, we do the right thing. Even when it’s not easy.". The Silicon Valley community held a candle light vigil after MLK's birthday demanding to do the right thing by not evading taxes by corporate breaks.

San Jose Community Responds to Jerry Brown’s Budget

In response to the leaking of Governor Jerry Brown’s budget for fiscal year 2014-2015, California Partnership along with California Budget for All of Us, Health Access, California Immigrant Policy Center, and Western Center on Law and Poverty organized a series of state wide press conferences and rallies in opposition to Gov. Brown’s budget.
