Timing, location and stop motion in the Dance of Peace

Editor's Note:

This Week in Peace chronicles the exciting adventures of San Jose’s own Dancer of Peace, Khalilah Ramirez. Written under divine inspiration, the column contains true stories of peace encounters in your neighborhood. This week, as many folks take quick weekend trips Khalilah encourages us to take adventures.

Greetings! Welcome to This Week In Peace. Spring is an even more prolific time for the Dance of Peace as well as other forms of art and beauty that unite us. There are rallies, art walks, gallery openings, festivals and galas everywhere. This week, to increase our sense of joy, contentment and peace, we will discuss the wonders of exploring. We don't have to leave our city or state to explore. All that is required is that we keep the spirit of curiosity alive within ourselves. This spirit is innately part of us. Being curious is our natural state. It's up to us to ensure that our curiosity remains actively intact through every phase of our lives. Exploring life is one of the primary ways to do that!

The Dance of Peace is an exploratory art form. While emitting the high vibration of peace and actively reaching out to others in spirit, it also remains an experiment. It migrates to different locations, times, participants, clothing/dance styles, sign art and more. All of life can vary like this. There are steps we can take to keep life, our minds and our realms feeling fresh. These steps are not hard and fast rules. In fact, make your own! Take notes on how things work. Start over, relish results, then set your expectations to have even more fun the next time!

This week the main experiments of the Dance of Peace were timing, location and stop motion. This is extremely fun because the possibilities are endless! For instance, the winter season with its short, cool days makes a lunchtime Dance of Peace optimum. It changes the sights and sounds during the dance. Many more citizens are eating, drinking and hurrying at lunch time. Generally, people who stop and talk have to run. The Dance of Peace is limited to an hour due to my own full schedule of classes. Now that it's spring the sun has been setting around 7:30 pm. The overall activity of the visible population becomes driving, taking walks with animals and relaxing. The warm days give way to a breezy, temperate twilight. There is a feeling of leisure, a slower pace that people are moving at. There is a palpable 'evening' vibration permeating the air. We have more time to observe our surroundings. That's where stop motion comes in. Try it in your home dance! Feel how powerfully the human body can hold the vibration of peace. My favorite way to explore stop motion is moving into sacred geometry and humor. Touch the fingertips over the head, make a triangle and hold. This is sacred geometry which helps to positively conduct energy! Bend the wrist 90 degrees, flatten the fingers and stack the hands. "Walk like an Egyptian" is the name of this cute little dance move. Amuse yourself and others with it, letting the laughter flow!

Here are some basic steps to follow when we are setting out on our exploring adventures:

Step 1) Planning: What do you want to explore? Life is full. We can learn anything. Choose an area in which you would love to expand your knowledge/experience. Set up a time. Keep an open mind to possibilities.

Step 2) Anticipation: One of the most exciting parts of exploring is looking forward to what we learn. Experiences help us to evolve. That is something to be giddy and hopeful about! Looking forward holds a powerful promise of more life.

Step 3) Discovery: What do you see or notice, perhaps for the first time? What do you think now, versus what you thought before? Be delighted by your discoveries!

Step 4) Wisdom: We can forget things but we cannot unlearn them. Once we acquire the wisdom that exploring things, it is always ours.

Exploring enhances life on many levels. When we change our behaviors, expectations and focus, we rewire our brains, building stronger pathways with which to learn and grow. What an incredible way to experience life!

Having the intention to explore life instead of assuming is an organic way to be MORE. How? Be open to new ideas. Ideas are powerful energies, free to be accepted or rejected. Once we find one to commit to, we can grow it in any way we please. Sometimes leaving patterns of thinking behind is step one when it comes to exploring. There is tremendous freedom in not being obligated to know everything in advance. Why be more? When we decide to be more, we have additional spirit & energy to lend to others. Thanks and see you out there!
